LIVE-MIRROR - Self-correcting mirrors for use in the next generation of large optical telescopes.
Programme: HORIZON-EIC
Duration: 01/02/2023 - 31/01/2027
Partners: CNRS, INSTITUT NATIONAL DES SCIENCES APPLIQUEES DE LYON, Neotech AMT GmbH, LEIBNIZ-INSTITUT FUER NEUE MATERIALIEN GEMEINNUETZIGE GMBH
More information:
The project aims to develop ultralight, self-correcting mirrors for use in the next generation of large optical telescopes and solar energy concentrators. They are intended to replace that large mirror with very light, optically perfect, “fire glass” (window glass) coated and reinforced with polymer layers, using additive manufacturing 3D printers.
Aitiip will develop a novel custom mold concept, made of metallic material, on which hybrid manufacturing processes based on 3D wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) systems can be worked on.
