One of the important milestones within INNOTOOL project was already achieved. AITIIP Technology Centre, supported by TEKNIKER and AERNNOVA, as topic manager, manufactured the CFRTP (thermoplastic) parts that will form the Closing Frame for the “Advance Rear End” in the CS2-LPA Demonstrator.
This milestone made possible to validate the objective of the project on new intelligent 4.0 concepts to improve the manufacture of thermoplastic products. Novel typology of tools and a new press hot forming approach that will reduce manufacturing time for aircraft components in the future.
In addition, it will enable a large energy consumption reduction in the manufacturing, contributing to the digital and green transition of the European clean aviation industry.
The main objective of the project was to design, manufacture and deliver the prototype tooling that demonstrates that innovative manufacturing and assembly processes for novel material are feasible. More specifically, it consists in the necessary tools development for the Advanced Rear End Prototype manufacturing and its assembly.
The project leading to these results has received funding from the Clean Sky 2 Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement n° 945583.
