After almost three years of research, the European PLASTISEA project, part of the Blue Bioeconomy program, is coming to an end.
During this time, the PLASTISEA Consortium has successfully developed a new sustainable material, with which it has manufactured a set of bio-based products for the packaging sector. These include 100% biodegradable pots and food trays, as well as films made from alginate extracted from wild algae cultivated in the Norwegian Sea. The Consortium will close this R&D project next March in Trondheim (Norway), at the facilities of SINTEF, coordinators of PLASTISEA.
