Megarob

MEGAROB is an European Project supported within the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development, call Factories of the Future, contract n 314015.

Megarob

Program: FP7 ‐ NMP

Duration: 36 months, November 2012 - October 2015

Coordinator: José Antonio Dieste, Aitiip Technology Center

More information: www.megarob.eu

Megarob, a R & D project coordinated by Aitiip Technological Center, is a new manufacturing system based on state-of-the-art industrial robotics whose precision and large dimensions on which it works make it the only one in the world.

This robot is assembled on a crane through which it moves, encompassing a large workspace of 20x6x5 meters. The operations are controlled by a program, which uses a positioning algorithm programmed in the project environment, and processes the readings of a laser device at the rate of 1000 readings per second.

The manufacturing operations that can perform this system are drilling, milling, grinding, sanding or polishing
The manufacturing operations that can perform this system are drilling, milling, grinding, sanding or polishing

The manufacturing operations that can perform this system are diverse, such as drilling, milling, grinding, sanding or polishing among others. These operations are performed on large pieces, over 10 meters, another of the specific features of this platform.

This project, funded by the 7th Framework Program of the European Union with more than 4 million euros, was developed during 36 months led by the Aitiip Aeronip Technology Center and with the participation of 7 partners from 4 different countries (Acciona, Grúas GH, Leica and CSEM (Switzerland), Teamnet (Romania) and Espace2001 (Luxembourg).
